Potentials of Zlatibor Region:

Geographical position which is on the way to the Adriatic Sea (Montenegro) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Belgrade-Bar railroad, the motorway leading to the Adriatic, etc.).

Plentiful and excellent natural resources, especially woods and waters, which are all important at the republic level and not sufficiently used. Agricultural land used for various purposes as well as a long production tradition in various agricultural sectors (cattle-raising), including the new one of fruit-growing.  Enormous forest potential (250,000 ha of forest land) with excellent opportunities for wood and wild berry exploitation (herbs, mushrooms, etc.), game, etc. This region has 14% of the total area covered by forests in Serbia and is the richest region in wood in Serbia, which creates a natural condition for wood processing industry.

Tourist potential with its dynamic development in the last few years and a long and rich tourist tradition and high quality tourist and other facilities. Relatively developed water (river and lake) traffic of local and regional significance. Rich cultural heritage (’intangible cultural assets’) – monasteries, tombstone sites, other cultural and historical buildings (series etc.), archaeological sites, examples of traditional building and architecture etc.

The so-called ’human/humane capital’ of a relatively high quality and ’social capital’. The growth, although still insufficient, of the so-called institutional competence (’capacities’) of the government and other public services in recent years.
